Challenge

In 2018, Dell started the development of a new IT Pro console that combined several new and existing tools into a single pane of glass, with the goal of modernizing the way IT Pros work. The theme of the user experience is the migration towards user role based orchestration rather than device based management. This project was heavy in data visualization and large data collection management.

Role

As the Senior Principal UX Design II, I was responsible for helping marketing and engineering synthesize epics and user stories, design flows and pages via multiple iterations and in different fidelity. create an Invision prototype,  and support the usability testing of the proposed designs.

Approach

This project utilized a full spectrum agile, design thinking approach. Workshopping with subject matter experts led to initial sketches and concepts, which were iterated and evolved into rapid prototypes.

Results

In usability testing of the console, the IT pro participants rated the experience as highly usable, highly useful and a large leap ahead in desirability.  The product is headed for the first MVP release shortly.
